Blue Belt Sophie Jarosh has been selected at Student of the Month for May. Sophie has always worked hard on her skills and has risen through the ranks relatively quickly. She also is great at helping out lower ranking students, having retained the knowledge that such students need to learn. Alas (for us), she will be away in Europe for the next two months. Bon Voyage, Sophie.

We will stand with you

carmipetenikeAt Traditional Taekwon-do Kwan, we have always welcomed people from all walks of life and celebrated our diversity. Now that we have entered a dark phase in our nation’s history, our community has experienced a startling rise in acts of blatant bigotry against racial minorities, Muslims, immigrants, women and the LGBT community. We want you all to know you are safe and equal here. We will do our best to stick up with you and help you learn how to deal with harrassment and potential assault.

As we move into 2017, we will be working with other organizations to bring our skills, which go beyond punches, kicks and throws, to places in need, such as schools, community centers and others places serving minority populations. We encourage you to join us, because it’s going to take a legion of peaceful warriors to make our society whole again.
